Hiking carries risk that stays with you

Walking in the outdoors with a dog involves real risk to both of you, including heat, cold, water, wildlife, other dogs, difficult ground and getting lost. You are responsible for judging whether a trail, a distance or a day’s weather is safe for your dog and for yourself, for obeying local leash and access rules, and for the behaviour of your dog around other people, animals and livestock.

We try hard to be accurate, but we cannot guarantee it

Guides are built from veterinary guidance, safety information, manufacturer specifications and practical trail needs, and we correct mistakes when we find them. Even so, information ages. Product specifications change, trail rules change, and research moves on.

The site is offered as it is. We do not promise that it will be accurate, complete, current or uninterrupted. Check anything that matters to your dog’s safety against the manufacturer, the land manager or your vet before you rely on it.
